How to play Pinball

Goal

Keep the ball in play with the flippers and rack up points from bumpers, targets, lanes and the spinner. You get 3 balls.

  1. 1Hold the launch control to pull back the plunger, then let go to fire the ball.
  2. 2Flip with the left and right flippers to keep the ball away from the drain between them.
  3. 3Light all three top lanes or knock down all three drop targets to raise your multiplier.
  4. 4Bumpers, slingshots and the spinner add points with every hit.
  5. 5The game ends when your third ball drains.

Z or Left arrow for the left flipper, M or Right arrow for the right flipper. Hold Space or Down to launch.

On a phone

Touch the left or right half of the table to flip. Hold anywhere to charge the plunger while the ball waits in the lane.

Pinball tips and strategy

  • Hold the flipper up to catch the ball, then flip when it rolls toward the tip for a controlled shot.
  • Do not flip both flippers at once by habit. It leaves a gap and often sends the ball straight down the middle.
  • Aim for the top lanes early in each ball. A higher multiplier makes every later hit worth more.
  • A shot up the right side runs through the spinner. Hit it hard for the biggest payout.
  • A full plunger pull sends the ball around the top arc and into the lanes. Try a partial pull to aim for different lanes.
  • If the ball is bouncing between the bumpers, let it. It is scoring on every hit.

About Pinball

Pinball brings a full table to your browser. The original layout has two flippers, a spring plunger, three pop bumpers, two slingshots above the flippers, a bank of drop targets, three rollover lanes at the top and a spinner on the right. The physics engine moves the ball in many small steps every frame, so it never slips through a flipper even at full speed.

Scoring works like a classic machine. Bumpers, slingshots and targets give points on every hit. Light all three top lanes or drop all three targets to raise your multiplier, which boosts everything you score until the ball drains. The spinner pays for every turn, so a fast shot through it is worth a lot. You get three balls, and there is no tilt.

The table scales to fit your screen, including a phone held upright. Easy mode gives you a longer ball save and slightly lighter gravity, while Hard has no ball save and a faster ball. The daily challenge picks a hot bumper and a bonus lane for everyone, so scores on that day are directly comparable.

How do I launch the ball?

Hold Space or Down on a keyboard, or hold your finger on the table on a phone, then let go. The longer you hold, the harder the launch.

How do I raise the multiplier?

Roll through all three top lanes, or knock down all three drop targets. Each adds one to the multiplier, up to x6. It resets when the ball drains.

Is there a tilt?

No. This table has no tilt and no nudging, so every game is about flipper skill.

What is ball save?

On Easy and Medium, a ball that drains in the first few seconds after launch is returned to the plunger for free.

Can I play pinball on my phone?

Yes. The table fits a portrait screen. Touch the left half for the left flipper and the right half for the right flipper.
