How to play Space Dodger

Goal

Survive as long as you can in a storm of asteroids, debris and meteors. Every second adds points, and close calls add more.

  1. 1Press Start, then move your ship around the lower part of the screen.
  2. 2Dodge rocks, spinning debris and fast meteors. Red warning lines show where a meteor will fall.
  3. 3Pass very close to a hazard without touching it to earn near-miss points. Chain them for bigger bonuses.
  4. 4Collect blue shields to survive one hit and gold stars for 50 points.
  5. 5The storm speeds up over time. One unshielded hit ends the run.

Space Dodger tips and strategy

  • Stay low and near the middle. It gives you room to move both ways when a wall arrives.
  • Watch the top of the screen, not your ship. Planning one pattern ahead matters more than fast reactions.
  • When a red line appears, step out of it right away. Meteors are too fast to dodge late.
  • Chase near misses only on single rocks. Trying it inside a dense wall is how most runs end.
  • Grab shields early. You can only hold one, but it turns your next mistake into a free pass.
  • On a phone, use short drags. The ship moves a little more than your finger, so small motions are enough.

About Space Dodger

Space Dodger is a survival game about flying, not shooting. Your small ship has no weapons, so the only way through a storm of asteroids, tumbling debris and fast meteors is to move. The longer you last, the faster everything falls, and every second you stay alive adds to your score.

The storm comes in patterns. Some moments are a scattered rain of rocks, some are a solid wall with one gap, and some are a sweep of debris that crosses the screen. Meteors are the fastest hazard, but each one is announced by a red warning line, so a sharp eye can always see it coming. Blue shields let you survive one hit, and gold stars add a quick 50 points.

The twist that makes Space Dodger fun to master is the near-miss bonus. Skimming past a rock without touching it is worth points, and several close calls in a row build a chain that pays more each time. Safe play keeps you alive, but brave play scores. How is the score calculated?

What does the shield do?

A shield absorbs one hit. After it breaks you blink for a moment and cannot be hurt, then the next hit ends the run.
