How to play Bingo

Goal

Complete the pattern on one of your cards and call bingo before the computer players.

  1. 1Pick a pattern (line, four corners or blackout), how many cards to play and the caller speed.
  2. 2Press Start. The caller draws a numbered ball every few seconds.
  3. 3Tap each called number on your cards to daub it, or switch on auto-daub.
  4. 4When your daubs finish the pattern, press BINGO before a computer player calls it.
  5. 5Your score is the number of balls it took, so fewer is better.

On a computer

Click numbers to daub them. Press B to call bingo and P to pause.

On a phone

Bingo tips and strategy

  • Use the letter on each ball to jump straight to the right column on every card.
  • More cards means more chances to win, but also more to watch. Try two cards before going up to four.
  • Keep an eye on the computer players. When one needs only one number, be ready to press BINGO.
  • Lines through the free center space need only four numbers, so they often finish first.
  • On blackout, auto-daub saves your thumbs, and you can still race to press BINGO.
  • Pause the caller if you need a moment, then pick up right where you stopped.

About Bingo

Bingo is a game of chance and quick eyes. Each card has a five by five grid under the letters B, I, N, G and O, with numbers from 1 to 75 and a free space in the middle. A caller draws numbered balls one at a time, and you mark, or daub, each called number you find on your cards.

This is the 75-ball version that is common in North America. Each column holds numbers from one range: B has 1 to 15, I has 16 to 30, N has 31 to 45, G has 46 to 60 and O has 61 to 75. Knowing the ranges makes it faster to scan your cards when a ball is called.

You play against three computer players who daub every number they hear. Choose a pattern: any line of five, the four corners or a full blackout. Play up to four cards, set the caller speed and turn on auto-daub if you just want to relax. Your score is the number of balls it took you to win, so a quick bingo is a great result.

Bingo FAQ

How many balls are in 75-ball bingo?

There are 75 balls numbered 1 to 75, split into five letters with 15 numbers each.

What counts as a line?

Any full row, column or diagonal of five squares. The free center square counts for you.

Do I need to press BINGO myself?

Yes. Finishing the pattern is not enough. You have to press BINGO before a computer player calls it.

What if I daub a number that was not called?

The game will not let you, so you cannot make a false bingo by accident.

How is my score worked out?

Your score is how many balls were called when you won. Lower is better, and your best is saved for each pattern.
