Free Spelling Games for Kids and Adults

Spelling sticks best when you use it, and games are a fun way to do that. Each of these free games makes you think about how words are built: which letters they contain, what order they come in, and what changes when you swap one letter for another.

Younger players can start with Missing Letters and Hangman, which give plenty of hints. Word Scramble and Word Ladder stretch older kids, while Letter Hive, Letter Swap and Word Guess are a real workout for adults. Typing Rain adds speed, so spelling and keyboard skills improve together.

All the games are free in your browser with no account, and most have difficulty levels so the challenge can grow. They work on tablets and computers at home or in class.

A good way to practice is little and often: one or two short games a day does more than a long session once a week. Say the words out loud as you solve them to help them stick.
