How to play Hex Merge
Goal
Score as many points as you can before the hex board fills up.
- 1Place the offered tile, or pair of tiles, on any empty cell.
- 2When 3 or more touching tiles share a number they merge into one tile of the next number.
- 3A merge that creates another match chains into a combo worth extra points.
- 4Plan ahead with the next-piece preview. The game ends when every cell is full.
On a computer
Hover to preview, click to place. R rotates a pair. Arrows and Enter also work.
On a phone
Tap a cell to place a tile. For a pair, tap the piece to rotate, tap a cell to preview, then tap again to place.

Hex Merge tips and strategy
- Keep matching numbers close together, but leave a gap so the third tile has somewhere to land.
- Build combos on purpose: place two 3s next to where a merge of 2s will happen.
- Use the corners and edges for numbers you cannot merge yet, and keep the middle open.
- Check the next piece before you place the current one.
- Pairs can be rotated. Turn them so both halves touch tiles they can merge with.
- Low numbers come often. Do not let scattered 1s and 2s clog the board.
About Hex Merge
Hex Merge is a calm but sneaky number puzzle played on a honeycomb of 37 hexagon cells. Each turn you get a tile, or sometimes a joined pair of tiles, and you place it on any empty cell. When three or more touching tiles show the same number, they pull together into a single tile with the next number, right where you placed the piece.
The fun comes from chains. If the new bigger tile now touches two more tiles of its own number, it merges again, and the points multiply with every step of the combo. Hexagons have six neighbors instead of four, so clusters form in shapes you would not see on a square grid, and a good spot can set off a cascade several moves later.
The run ends when the board is completely full, so every placement matters. The next-piece preview lets you plan one step ahead. In daily mode everyone gets the same sequence of tiles, and you can replay as often as you like to beat your best score of the day.
Hex Merge FAQ
How do merges work in Hex Merge?
When the tile you place makes a group of three or more touching tiles with the same number, the group becomes one tile with the next number on the cell you just used.
How do I score more points?
Bigger merges and chain combos are worth much more. Each step of a chain multiplies the points for that merge.
When does the game end?
When every cell is full. If a pair cannot fit anywhere, it becomes a single tile so you can keep going until the very last cell.
How does the daily Hex Merge work?
Everyone gets the same tile sequence for the day. Your best score is saved and you can try again to beat it.
